This 8-Room Oregon Wine Country Escape is Hiding Some of the Pacific Northwest's Best Views

Hotel Snapshot

As you make your way to your room at The Setting Inn Willamette Valley, you might begin to think you either made a wrong turn…or are the star of your Hallmark movie. If you have arrived at the majestic gates tucked away in the Dundee Hills, you’re in the right place. Press the buzzer and you’ll likely be connected to one of the owners, Jeff Cova and Noah McMahon, who will open the gates and allow you to make the short, windy drive up to the breathtaking 10-acre property situated in the heart of Oregon wine country.

Design & Character

Instead of walking into a bustling, loud, overstimulating lobby, you'll be greeted by overflowing gardens full of roses, peonies, hydrangeas, and more. (Look a little past them and you'll spot a bocce ball court and fire pit, all ready to enjoy.) Soon, Jeff or Noah will be out to give you a tour of the peaceful and intimate grounds.

The Rooms

Since 2021, The Setting Inn (which has a sister property in Napa Valley), has been one of the most coveted yet under-the-radar stays in Willamette. With just eight spacious rooms, each with a covered patio, it is decidedly more exclusive, upscale bed and breakfast than a classic hotel. Although each room is outfitted with a king bed, eco-friendly LATHER toiletries, flat-screen TVs, Nespresso coffee, Steven Smith Tea, plus plush robes and slippers, there are no cookie-cutter rooms here. Every space has a unique design and layout, accented with interiors selected by Cora J Klang Design.

The Amenities

Just steps away from your private space, you can stroll through the gardens and small on-site winery—a nod to The Setting Wines. A precursor to the Inns, the luxury wine brand’s Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay releases feature grapes grown near their two Inn outposts. Tempted to give some a try? You can purchase a bottle in the lobby or from your mini bar. Or book in advance to secure a seat at the on-site tasting room, where you can sample your way through a flight of five wines.

Locations & Neighborhood Recommendations

Beyond being a centrally-located place to stay as you explore nearby wineries and charming small towns (don’t miss McMinnville), The Setting Inn is a delightful place to play. The thoroughly modern barn house just across the courtyard from your room is equipped with board games, and right outside, you can challenge your fellow travelers to matches of Giant Connect 4, cornhole, or bocce. Past sunset and before bed, the best seat in the house is actually outside. Get cozy in an Adirondack chair near the fire pit, where you can make s'mores.

After a 30-second commute back to your quiet room, you can drift off to savor sweet dreams about tomorrow. By 8:15 a.m., the little bench near your door will be topped with a custom brunch box filled with croissants, jam, fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, granola, and orange juice.
