Set the Scene
If anyone could get Angelenos to drive all the way across down for dinner, it’s Last Word Hospitality. Hermon’s is located in an ultra-unassuming and low-key neighborhood of the same name, just on the other side of Highland Park. The restaurant, which opened in December 2025, has become one of the more difficult reservations to score in the city, mostly due to its attentive service, tiny ‘tinis, and standout dishes that range from crispy potato fritters topped with a fluffy cloud of cream cheese to a two-sheet vongole pasta. The space used to serve as a church banquet hall, but now, it is cozy and nostalgic, featuring diner-style booths, antique sconces, vintage photographs, and a spacious bar that sits in the middle of the dining room. Hermon’s is simultaneously timeless and inventive, proving to be everything you could possibly want in a neighborhood joint.
What the Food is Like
It’s hard to define Hermon’s under one umbrella of cuisine. Some of the dishes feel more American, some lean French, and others are clearly Italian-influenced. You’ll definitely want to order an array of dishes for the table, including an item of two from the raw bar. Start with the scallop or tuna crudo before indulging in the buttery garlic bread. The fried coconut tiger prawns are another popular appetizer, but no visit is complete without the loaded potato fritters.
Before diving into your main course, explore the ever-changing salads and veggies section. The creamy, thin, lasagna-like two-sheet vongole is a signature creation, but the fondue-topped cheeseburger with a sesame milk bun always hits the spot (especially when paired with an ice-cold martini). At the end of your meal, go out with a bang and order the piping hot skillet cookie.
Let’s Talk About the Drinks
As mentioned already, Hermon’s is all about the martini. Whether you prefer it dirty or dry with a twist, they’re always ice cold (and can be upgraded with a garnish of hand-stuffed blue cheese olives). If you’re not in the mood for a full-size pour, opt for the tiny ‘tini before switching over to a glass of chilled red. Other worthwhile cocktails include the zesty yuzu margarita, the mezcal mole negroni, or the seasonally-driven daily daiquiri.
Final Thoughts
As a West Hollywood resident, I’m not always keen on driving over to Pasadena/Highland Park to dine, but for Hermon’s, I’ll gladly make the trip. It’s a true gem that reaffirms Last Word Hospitality’s commitment to excellence, creativity, and consistently great vibes.
