SoHo is one of Manhattan’s most stylish zip codes for good reason. Short for “South of Houston Street,” this downtown district was once the gritty playground for artists in the ’70s. Fast forward a few decades, and it traded its paint-splattered jeans for perfectly tailored trousers.
While it might be a small slice of the city, it has more than enough to do. From boutique hotels that ooze class to iconic restaurants, fan-favorite bakeries, art galleries, and flagship fashion houses, this neighborhood has some of New York’s best offerings. Whether you're searching for a five-star stay, craving a classic SoHo staple, or simply want to window-shop with a matcha in hand, this insider guide has the chicest places to stay, sip, and shop straight from a local.
Where to Stay

The Manner
After undergoing a major renovation in 2024, The Manner has quickly become one of SoHo’s hottest new hotels. With just 97 rooms and an eye for understated luxury, this boutique stay feels like stepping into the home of your impossibly chic friend who has fresh flowers, impeccable taste, and somehow never runs out of Champagne.

Crosby Street Hotel
Opened in 2009 by London’s iconic Firmdale Hotels, Crosby Street Hotel has got it all–colorful rooms, incredible floor-to-ceiling windows, and an atmosphere that’s equal parts refined British charm and downtown New York edge. Beyond the swoon-worthy rooms, there’s a secret garden terrace, a cozy bar perfect for cocktails, and even a tiny private cinema.

Where to Eat

Raoul’s
Raoul’s is a true SoHo classic, holding court on Prince Street since 1975. It has an old-school vibe with French flair, making it feel like a timeless Parisian eatery in the heart of New York. Take a seat at the bar, order the steak au poivre and an ice-cold dirty martini (non-negotiable), and soak in the scene. Bottom line: Coming here is a rite of passage.

The Corner Store
The Corner Store is SoHo’s newest golden child—an ultra-stylish hotspot that draws in celebrities, locals, and out-of-towners alike. This sultry, wood-paneled restaurant serves comfort food classics with an upscale edge: think wagyu French dip, Maine lobster frites, and Caesar salad crowned with everything bagel croutons. As for the martinis, it might be hard to stop at just one.

Dominique Ansel Bakery
Dominique Ansel Bakery is the birthplace of the beloved Cronut (a half-croissant, half-doughnut creation), and it’s been a pastry pilgrimage site ever since. With its rotating lineup of Instagram-famous treats, including the must-try DKA (Dominique’s Kouign Amann), flaky croissants, and fun, seasonal creations, everything here is essentially a work of edible art.
Where to Drink

Fanelli Cafe
Fanelli Cafe is as classic SoHo as it gets—gritty in the best way, effortlessly cool, and practically overflowing with New York history. It’s been around since 1847, and it really hasn’t changed much since. Checkered floors, vintage neon signage, and a bar that’s always busy keep this place on everyone’s radar. Plus, the street seating offers some of the best people-watching in the city.

Lure Fishbar
Lure Fishbar has been an underground gem since 2004, serving yacht-club vibes in a sleek, wood-paneled hideaway that mirrors a ship. The real magic happens at the bar, where the cocktails are just as polished as the crowd. Don’t miss out on the Lure Saketini or Lychee Martini—both are extra crisp and dangerously sippable. (Fair warning: Prada plans to take over the lease in 2026 to open a luxe café, which means Lure’s days are sadly numbered.)

Balthazar
If you’re in SoHo, a stop at Balthazar is a must. Head to the bar to sip on an expertly-made French 75, crisp martini, or much-needed negroni. Whether kicking off the evening with oysters and champagne or winding down with a dirty martini and steak frites, Balthazar is always the right answer.

There’s no street quite like Broadway. Lined with a mix of high-end boutiques, flagship stores, and trendy pop-ups, this strip has everything and so much more. Whether you're hunting for high-fashion labels, unique finds, or the latest streetwear drops, Broadway delivers.

Eden Gallery
For anyone into cool, contemporary art, Eden Gallery is a must. Since opening in 1997, founder Cathia Klimovsky has taken Eden worldwide, but the SoHo spot is always filled with fresh, immersive shows.
