Set the Scene
From the cobbled streets of Rome, a multi-generational institution finds a home in New York City. Enter Roscioli NYC, a two-story homage to the Eternal City’s most beloved culinary family that feels less like an import and more like an awakening.
Born from a collaboration between the Roscioli family, whose bakery dates back to the early 1800s, and Ariel Arce and her esteemed Niche Niche team, the New York outpost preserves what has always defined the hospitality group: warmth, authenticity, and an obsession with fresh, raw ingredients (and talent)–while infusing it with a distinctly Manhattan energy.
Upstairs, The Alimentari hums with the easy bustle of a modern salumeria: rows of handmade pastas, cured legs of meat suspended from the ceiling, cheese stacked behind a glass pane, jars of imported oils and goods, and a marble bar that doubles as a dining area.
Downstairs, the Roman Feast unfolds in a vaulted wine cellar, a multi-course food and wine pairing journey through tradition, terroir, and time.
What’s the Food Like?
In true Italian fashion, the dining experience from start to finish is quite theatrical and incredibly generous. Upon being seated, a wheel of Tête de Moine cheese is placed on the table and hand-cranked into paper-thin rosettes.
The à la carte menu at the Alimentari reinterprets Roman comforts through a cosmopolitan New York lens. Small plates like Burro e Alici pair anchovies from Cetara and the Cantabrian Sea with three butters–one from Saint-Malo, another from Japan, and the third from Italy. Crisp Zucchini alla Scapece Burrata, and the golden Carciofi Fritti nod to traditional aperitivi.
Simultaneously, handmade pastas form the heart of the experience: the four Roman Mother pastas (Cacio e Pepe, Carbonara, Gricia, and Amatriciana) appear beside specialties like Angolotti di Ricotta con Burro e Salvia, pillows of pasta enriched with butter and sage.
Heartier secondi include Polpette al Sugo con Polenta, smoky Roman meatballs in a velvety tomato sauce crowned with fiore sardo. For dessert, indulgence takes many forms: Tiramisù, an Almond Cake with Mexican chocolate mousse, and a Strawberry Granita grated over a bed of pistachio cream.
Let’s Talk About the Drinks
Wine is the connective tissue of Riscoli’s story. The cellar houses an extraordinary Italian collection, shaped through enduring relationships with small producers from Piedmont to Sicily.
Guests can opt for standard or reserve pairings during the Roman Feast, each selection echoing the character of the dish it accompanies. The à la carte drinks list upstairs mirrors this sensibility, offering approachable varietals and classic cocktails.
Final Thoughts
Roscioli NYC is a bridge between Rome and the city that never sleeps, where heritage, hospitality, and heart all have a seat at the table.
