The Hoxton, Edinburgh is the Hip New Kid on the Georgian-Era Block

Hotel Snapshot

The Hoxton, Edinburgh brings the brand’s signature contemporary zest to the Scottish capital—reimagining a cluster of elegant Georgian-era townhouses with the same sleek style and quirky character that’s made it a favorite among the under-40 crowd. This debut marks The Hoxton’s first location in Scotland, adding to the growing collection that includes a smart, stylish base in Rome’s Parioli District and a former Mayoral residence turned hip haunt on Herengracht Canal in Amsterdam. Like the other properties in the portfolio, the Grosvenor Street outpost balances historic and hip, contributing something fresh to the city’s cultural conversation. If you’re heading to Edinburgh and prefer a base that’s a bit more casual, convivial, and boutique (ahem, rather than a stuffy grand dame), this is definitely the crash pad du jour.

Design & Character

Tucked inside a string of historic Georgian-style townhouses, the 214-key hotel fully embraces its role as a time‑straddler. The palette of pink, green, and cream, along with touches like glass chandeliers, nods to the grandeur of old Scotland. But because it’s the Hox, everything comes with a wink and a sprinkle of contemporary charisma. Midcentury furnishing, bold tile fireplace, and a youthful zeal to the decidedly fresh vibe that makes it a hip place you want to kick back and stay a while.

The Rooms

The rooms are, as any Hox enthusiast would expect, sleek and stylish, pared down but not sparse, and imbued with plenty of personality and Georgian-influenced flair. Think saturated hues, velvet headboards, and geometric art. Categories range from modest Snug (well-priced and sized for solo travelers) and Snug Bunk (as the name suggests, it’s fitted with stacked single beds) to the most spacious Bigg Up, featuring a writing desk and a plush sofa seating area.

For even more space and fully kitted-out comforts, book one of the Hox Houses, which comes with a fully equipped kitchen, three bedrooms, and bathrooms, and separate hangout zones.

Food & Drink

The Hoxton, Edinburgh, like its stylish sibling, has a vibe-y all-day-dining outlet where good food and drinks is always on the menu. If you’ve grown weary of traditional Scottish fare, the modern Italian trattoria, Patatino, is sure to hit the spot. The haggis and nduja pizza with rocket, jalapeno, fior di latte, and hot honey might even convert a few taste buds.

Amenities

Something The Hoxton does across the board is create warm, inviting, and sociable spaces where guests and locals can mix and mingle. Beyond the lobby—equal parts living room, bar, and all-day eatery—the property also has a pint-sized cinema.

Flexible check‑in and check‑out are available upon request—a convenience not to be overlooked, since airlines rarely schedule flights around hotel arrivals. Anyone who’s ever endured a red‑eye to Europe, gotten a few far-from-REM hours of shut‑eye, and then been rudely reminded their room won’t be ready until 4 p.m. will certainly appreciate it.

Traveling with tots? Rest assured, the hotel has you covered with essentials ranging from cribs with organic mattresses and bottle warmers to bath products and Smallable x Hox coloring books. Pups are also welcome.

Location & Neighborhood Recs

Set on Grosvenor Street in the Haymarket neighborhood, The Hoxton, Edinburgh is a short walk from must-see tourist attractions—including Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street, and the Old Town. It’s also well located to put your palate to good use at Timberyard and toss back a few pints at pubs such as Cloisters Bar. If it’s rejuvenation you’re after, book a scalp massage or facial at Graceful Touch, Edinburgh's first city center head spa.
