A Sophisticated New Boutique Hotel Revives Historic Leesburg, Virginia

Hotel Snapshot

In the heart of horse country, Virginia, you’ll find the unequivocally charming town of Leesburg. With its historic downtown, its bevvy of award-winning gastronomy, and its undeniably kind residents, it’s no wonder that Leesburg has quickly grown into one of the most popular Virginian destinations, just an hour away from Washington, D.C. And now, for the first time in decades, Leesburg has a stunning new boutique property in the form of Hotel Burg, which blends old-world sophistication inspired by Ralph Lauren with modern southern luxury.

Design & Character

The 39 thoughtfully designed and appointed guest rooms are an homage to Hotel Burg’s blend of country charm and modern refinement – you’ll find antique details like clawfoot tubs and time-honored writing desks alongside regional artwork and richly patterned rugs. Indeed, part of the ethos of Hotel Burg is to serve as a social club both for visitors and residents of Leesburg. As such, in addition to the rooms and public spaces, you’ll find The Chase, the hotels’ private members-only club, which offers an exclusive gathering spot complete with a speakeasy, flexible workspaces, fitness facilities, priority dining reservations.

The Rooms

While there’s plenty to do in Leesburg and surrounding Loudoun County (known for its burgeoning wine scene), the luxury of the rooms in Hotel Burg may just mean that you’ll want to stay put instead of venturing out. Rooms range from the classic double queen to the King ADA room, all of which are elegantly furnished in a mix of warm leather tones with pops of color, reflecting the natural surroundings. But if you can, we’d recommend booking yourself one of the eight suites in the property. We’re especially partial to the Dogwood Suite, a romantic retreat featuring a plush king-sized bed and generously oversized wet room, featuring a clawfoot soaking tub, an oversized shower, and dual fireplaces – one in the bathroom and another in the bedroom. All suites also come complete with a kitchenette, in case you want to take your meals in your room.

Food and Drink

Of course, you won’t necessarily want to eat in your room with the wealth of dining options around town, and more importantly, in the hotel itself. There are three stunning on-site options, helmed by The Huntōn. The kitchen is led by Michelin-starred Chef Vincent Badiee, and produces dishes kissed by the open-fire, reflecting the restaurant’s name. Menus change seasonally, with ingredients driven by seasonal availability – we love that the offerings are divided by game meats, foraged herbs, and locally sourced produce, all complemented by regional wines and inventive cocktails. Then, there’s the Rooftop Bar, available to hotel guests and members of The Chase. There, you can find seasonal beverages and light bites (don’t miss the Thai chicken wraps). Finally, The Diana Lounge serves a killer breakfast (as well as dinner) in a warm, communal setting that feels like your wealthy uncle’s hunting lodge.

Amenities

Guests can enjoy a rooftop sundeck and fire pit, a large fitness center complete with an infrared sauna, and access to The Chase with its own speakeasy, workspaces, and curated programming. While at The Burg, you’ll also have access to The Manor 1858, a 22-acre estate for weddings and other events and retreats. And finally, the hotel’s exclusive house car service is available daily from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, offering complimentary transportation within a 10-mile radius- including local wineries, restaurants, and shops.

Location & Neighborhood Recs

With its prime location on historic King Street in downtown Leesburg, Hotel Burg is just a stone’s throw away from some of the restaurants, coffee shops, and bars in town, as well as plenty of wineries. We love Goosecup for your morning coffee, The Wine Kitchen for a meal, and Zephaniah Farm Vineyard
