Hotel Snapshot
Nearly the size of Central Park, Adare Manor’s lush, sprawling grounds don’t reveal their full scale and beauty until you pass through the wrought-iron gates. A sea of emerald lawns expands and stretches toward a neo-Gothic manor that feels plucked straight from a storybook. Upon arrival, you’ll be instantly greeted with the warmth and excitement of the famous Irish hospitality, which will no doubt set the tone for the duration of your stay.
Design & Character
Originally built in the early 19th century, Adare Manor has retained its historic soul while undergoing an extraordinary restoration. This rare “calendar house”—with 365 windows, 52 chimneys, 12 marble fireplaces, seven stone pillars, and four towers representing the days, weeks, months, and seasons—embodies architectural whimsy at its finest. The creak of the staircase beneath your feet is a gentle reminder of its age, even as the manor has been reimagined from its original 16 bedrooms into 103 elegantly restored guest rooms, each carrying a sense of enchantment.
The Rooms
The historic charm of Adare Manor extends seamlessly into its guest rooms, where old-world elegance meets modern comfort. Each space feels like a masterclass in refinement, balancing preserved details with contemporary touches. Stately fireplaces anchor the rooms, while delicate chandeliers cast a soft glow over plush bedding. In the bathrooms, soaking tubs surrounded by white marble give a relaxing spa - like experience, perfect for lingering after a day of exploring the countryside. And perhaps the most indulgent amenity of all: heated floors that make stepping out of the bath feel downright luxurious.
The Food & Drinks Situation
With five thoughtful dining and bar experiences onsite, Adare Manor truly offers something for every occasion. The Michelin-starred Oak Room, helmed by Chef Mike Tweedie, is reason enough to journey to Ireland, showcasing seasonal, sustainable fare and local meats paired with wines selected by the manor’s award-winning sommelier—recipient of Michelin’s first-ever Sommelier Award.
Evenings often wind down in the Tack Room, the property’s intimate speakeasy, where a well-curated Irish whiskey list and cozy atmosphere set the stage for late-night conversations. By day, The Gallery—with its soaring ceilings, stained-glass windows, and intricate woodwork—becomes the perfect backdrop for afternoon tea. Here, delicate sandwiches and pastries are served alongside an array of teas, including the manor’s own signature 1832 blend.
The dining journey extends to The Carriage House, which offers a more relaxed yet refined setting for all-day dining, while The Drawing Room serves as the manor’s elegant living room—perfect for light bites and cocktails with views of the River Maigue. Of course, indulgence at Adare isn’t limited to the restaurants. The Harry Lowes cottage chocolatier offers handmade sweets, an enchanting stop before heading out to explore the estate’s many activities.
The Amenities
While Adare Manor impresses in countless ways, its championship golf course is the property’s crowning jewel. The lifelong dream of Irish businessman J.P. McManus, who purchased the estate in 2015, will be coming true as the course will host the prestigious Ryder Cup in 2027. Yet even for those uninterested in golf, the estate pulses with activities: falconry, gun dog experience, archery, horse-and-carriage rides, picnics on the grounds, and bike rides along winding paths. Evenings can be capped off in the manor’s plush 27-seat cinema, where fresh popcorn accompanies beloved films for a cozy night in.
Spa & Wellness Scoop
Wellness takes center stage at the 111SKIN Spa, where guests are encouraged to slip into robes and follow a discreet route from their rooms to the treatment level—bypassing the lobby entirely for a touch of secret indulgence. Within, an adults-only pool provides a serene escape, complete with a fresh juice of the day served poolside. Treatments range from signature massages to rose quartz restorative facials, all designed to rejuvenate and restore.
Location & Neighborhood Recs
A few minutes’ walk from the main house, tucked among the trees, lies The Padel Club—the property’s triking fitness and recreation hub. With panoramic views that make workouts feel as if they’re taking place in a hidden treehouse, the facility features a 17-meter swimming pool, two indoor padel courts (the only ones in Ireland), and a state-of-the-art sports simulation room.
Whether you come for the golf, the grandeur, or simply the quiet magic of the Irish countryside, Adare Manor is a destination that captivates every kind of traveler —and leaves you already plotting your next return.
