Design & Character
Brut Hotel earns its name from “béton brut,” French for “raw concrete,” the material that defines brutalist design and shows up everywhere here: sharp lines, poured concrete, and a palette of browns and beiges original to the style's 1950s heyday. But that starkness doesn't win out entirely. Plants adorn every corner of the nine-story building, including in rooms and common areas, giving a pop of green to offset the raw concrete aesthetic.
Each room offers its own vantage point onto the Arkansas River or the Tulsa skyline, and no two feel quite alike. And the lobby is compact, but it gets the job done.
The Rooms
The Brutalist style carries into the rooms, too, with concrete floors, minimalist finishes, and the same neutral tones found throughout the hotel. Each room has its own name, and it's worth booking The Magee specifically, which comes with a hammock hanging from the ceiling for easy lounging. Guests can also request a record player, stocked with vinyl from Michael Jackson, Queen, and just about every rock legend in between.
The Food & Drink
Soma, the rooftop restaurant and bar at Brut Hotel, is a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike. Soma features locally sourced ingredients, craft cocktails, and 360-degree views of Tulsa and the Arkansas River. Both outdoor and indoor seating are available for brunch, happy hour starting at 3 p.m. daily, and dinner service, which starts at 5 p.m. The Honey Yuzu Brussels, a shareable plate, was a favorite during my stay.
Live music is available throughout the year, along with curated talks by local professionals.

The 1820 Spa is located on the ground floor of the historic Elizabeth Manor building next door to Brut Hotel. Open to hotel guests, neighborhood residents, and visitors to the city, the spa offers massages, facials, body treatments, and a dry sauna. Brut Hotel is known for its assortment of programming, including yoga classes, sound baths, and music nights.
The on-site hotel pool lets guests and day-pass holders cool off from the sweltering summer heat in Tulsa. Open year-round, the pool is home to Rosa, a poolside restaurant and bar serving tacos and cocktails.
